What an ordeal!
Sitting here at work and being kind of tired. Why? I never went to sleep last night!
At around ten thirty the thing we've feared for years happened - with a thud Douglas fell off the balcony. He ran across the grass, so obviously he wasn't too hurt, but before Malin could run down and catch him he climbed into the tree!
To make a long story short - he stayed there all night, climbing higher and higher. The fire department wouldn't help us. My aunt, uncle, cousin and her husband (whom I had had dinner with earlier in the evening) arroved with flash lights and helped us try for two hours until they left. (We got to borrow the flash light.) Since Malin had been up for 36 hours straight I volunteered to take the first shift, and for four hours I tried to beckon him to come down. When Malin came out in the morning she got him down in twenty minutes. He was nervous and had broken his nose which was bloody but seemed pretty OK. He must have been so scared!
She just called from the vet, they want to keep him for observation. Probably the bill will land at about 400 Euros but that's OK.
I've got the afternoon off so I can sleep and just relax. Poor Douglas.
