First week of vacation
Aug. 8th, 2004 10:38 pmMalin came home on Sunday night - exactly one week ago. The past week we've been Project Gals, doing all the more physical things on our to do list for the summer. Our new Widescreen television has arrived (now our home entertainment center is complete!) and we've plugged it in. Malin has redecorated her room to fit her new TV and we've cleaned the flat. My biggest feat was to give the balcont its yearly scrubbing. Since we moved here in March this balcony had never been scrubbed before so it was covered in dirt and fungus. After two days of kneeling on a concrete floor and getting soft soap all over myself you can walk barefoot over it without getting dirty.
Tomorrow morning we leave for the island of Gotland on our second trip together. Faithful readers will recall this is where I went on a conference trip with my job in May and I have also been there a few hours with my brother when he bought a car three years ago. This will feel like the first real visit though - summer time and all.
We have booked three nights at the prison-turned-hostel where we stayed last time and will be back late Thursday night.
Since we've already been there we know pretty much what to do, where to go, and feel very mellow about it. In fact neither one of us feel excited about it all - don't worry, that's a good thing. :-) We will just relax and check out some sights and eat lots of food and bathe in the ocean. It will be nice. And then when we return we have 10 days of vacation left. Besides going to Uppsala to see my brother and his wife and baby we will do NOTHING - just relax and be creative. If we go somewhere, say the movies, it will be completely in the spur of the moment.
I should go pack.
