Shopping addict?

OK, so I'm depressed because of things in my life that I regret. Things and feelings I'm responsible for, not things that have happened to me. Yet, as soon as I enter the store and find things I can buy and cook at home I feel better?? Shopping and eating and reading gossip alleviates doubt and guilt? Surely that's twisted. I'm turning into an American.
