Three pieces of news:
1) A major fire destroyed three big supermarkets in Södertälje last week. Theory is it’s either left-extremists or the mob.
The atmosphere in town is tense.
2) My uncle and his wife came by the office last week and gave me the invitation to my cousin’s wedding. He is 45 and has never had an official girlfriend before he went to Tanzania with his church and fell for the local school teacher. She has a four month visa now and will hopefully get to stay once they’re married. Mom and dad saw this as an excellent opportunity to do a “visit the children tour” and are flying down. They’ll stay with me Friday – Sunday and we’ll go to the wedding together.
3) We’re moving! The office, that is. Last week the main CEO had called for an emergency meeting with all the 450 members of staff. A pretty bad sign in these days! Fortunately, he had only good news. They’ve purchased a building down town near the canal from the pharmaceutical company who are down sizing. Reasons why this is awesome:
A) It’s more central
B) It’s twice as large as our current offices
C) It’s only ten years old and very nice looking
D) The parking problem is solved
E) It’s 150 meters from my house!!!!!!
We’re not moving until spring 2010, but there’s something to look forward too. I’m definitely sure I’ll be working here next year, *g*.
