Kind of an odd post

Tragedy has affected my work place: a distant co-worker (meaning she works for the same company but in another department) lost her daughter in an accident. Two of my co-workers are friends with her, and also belong to the same church community as she does. They told me that part of their tradition is renting a location for the grieving where relatives and friends can come and pay their condoleances and that they were going there today. One of them said just before she left: I'm nervous to see her, even though I want to.

I know her boss pretty well, and he is really unsure of how he should deal with this. Hopefully he'll get some help from HR.
