Aug. 10th, 2006 11:47 amSo, Superman.
The effects were great. The acting of Routh/Bosworth/Marsden was great. Spacey disappointed. (More funny than scary.)
The story was good, althought the plot with Luthor taking over the world was a bit lame and over quickly.
I liked all the characters, and the rest of the movie. Superman's talk about air safety was funny!
How does Superman find time to do his job???
One reviewer complained that the movie focuses more on Superman than on Clark Kent, and I have to agree with that.
That's also one reason why the Lois/Superman relationship would never work, IMO. She's in love with Superman, but not Clark.
The one thing I'm not super fond of is Jason being Superman's son. I honestly think it would make the Superman/Lois story more interesting if he was not. It feels like this revelation is only there for the OTP-factor. Also it complicates things, if you think about it. Jason already has a dad, even if Richard isn't biological father, and to break that relationship up isn't a super thing to do. It will be interesting to see how they deal with this in a possible sequel.
Random pet peeve: how does Superman fall down if he is already in the zero gravity zone?
Speaking of zero gravity - the scene were the plane loses gravity as it descends was nice, and a nod to the zero gravity jets.
