Last week:
On Monday I brought a cake to the department meeting since I had had a birthday the day before. I told them to sing for me and they did.
On Tuesday the company shut down at one and everyone went to the arena for the annual Christmas party. Speeches, treats, a revue and a Christmas gift handed out by the respective CEOs in Santa Outfits. (This year we got a sports bag.)
Apparently, they have started a "Telge awards" that they give to people. The categories were Best Salesman, Best Boss, Best Department etc. Kind of like the Oscars. Complete with shocked winners and teary speeches, only these winners get a cash prize as well as a diploma.
Thursday it was my department's turn to eat Yule Bord in the cafeteria. The external salesmen showed up as well. Roland, who was off that day, turned up just to eat. The food was okay and I did not over-eat. Afterwards there was pre-holiday chatting and I felt in good spirits.
On Friday I gave my old Christmas tree and curtains to the Church's second hand store and went to town for the final Christmas shopping. Bought swimming trunks for dad, and the gifts for Anna Lena and Robert. Also bought a steak at the butcher's which i fried up in the pan. Drank two glasses of red wine, wrapped the gifts and watched Discovery land safely. (Mom and dad, and Rickard also watched, I was told later.)
On Saturday I went to the air port in good time. I met Rickard for five minutes to exchange Christmas gifts.
The flight was delayed and I slept a bit while waiting. I found out (by accident!) that they had changed gates and I rushed to the new one. Very annoying. When we finally got up in the air they didn't have all the supplies for the serving cart, but no one really cared about that.
When we arrived at Luleå the pilot said we couldn't land because it had started snowing and the runway was too slippery. If it didn't approve we we have to go to Umeå and ride the bus to Luleå. Since that trip is four hours long, we weren't very pleased. I chatted with my fellow passengers. One revealed she had lost her sister five days earlier. Very sad.
After we had circled around the air port for twenty minutes we were told we could go down. Applause erupted.
More about Christmas in next post.
