Saturday's ep of DW got me thinking.

I must say I kind of liked this ep. I really liked doctor junior despite her, eh, "slightly" Mary Sue-ish qualities. As usual it had some wtf moments (the war only having gone on for seven days for instance) but it was enjoyable. I really like the idea of the Doctor as a parent. And I love Donna being all perceptive about it. (See, this is the benefits of having an older companion, they've been around the block. *hearts Donna*)

What I find interesting is that this child came about in a way that reinforces the Doctor's asexuality (or celibacy at least.)

Asexual reproduction. That's a bit like, dunno, Donald Duck and his three "nephews".

No mention of "The Sex", no pesky Significant Other needed, just a slight prick, and presto baby. Fits the Doctor perfectly. ;-)

And there's not even another genetic donor! No possible connection to another person. He's literally both mother and father. Hello god complex.

I also find it interesting that it is played as a violation of his reproductive rights but that he grows to like Jenny anyway. A repetition of the sentiment in episode one - you're not to blame for how you were created, even if it was through a violation.

Now, I'm not deluded enough to think the BBC has some sort of hidden message about the acceptance of rape babies, but I like it.

Now let's just hope Jenny comes back in the season finale.
