Show rec, like for reals this time
Oct. 13th, 2017 10:38 pmSo I watch a lot of shows on Netflix - Lucifer, lately, Star Trek: Discovery, old school Star Trek...
But none are really of the "OMG must rec!!!111"-capacity.
Until now...
Ten days ago, I started watching "The Expanse" on Netflix, and I just finished. (Like ten minutes ago.)
Holy crap, it's so good!!!!!!!
Why it's so good:
-It's extremely well-paced. One mystery ends just as another begins and you never feel frustrated (like there's no pay-off) or bored (that the storylines go on too long.)
-The characters are All. Good. People. Flawed, yes. Making immoral decisions, yes. But always fighting for what's right, for their people.
-It's extremely emotional. Adrenaline inducing at the action parts? Check. Giddy at the heroic parts? Check. Weepy at the sentimental parts? Check. I've not been this emotionally affected by a show since Hannibal.
-The world building is simple, yet effective. The accents, the jargon, the haircuts, the tech. The spaceships look real! The CGI is not crap!
-It's only 26 episodes (so far)!! You can do it in two weeks if you watch two episodes per day.
