A generation's final journey
Aug. 14th, 2003 06:52 pmFeel fine. Finished "Lost" yesterday, am waiting for the beta so I can start the editing process. Didn't see Tomb Raider today because Malin had another fit of the panics. She's one of those people if she has an engagement, like going to the movies or to a café she cannot relax until it's over and done with. She says she can not start enjoying her hollidays until we have done all those things we have planned. If her friends want to go out with her on a Monday she will spend every day up till then stressing out about it, feeling "the big black cloud hanging over her" as she put it today. So no movies. We've postponed it indefinitely. We are ok though,´after some yelling. I'm doing some writing on CI and drinking strong coffee. When she gets here we will get drunk. Yay! We have six bottles of schnapps and we don't need all of them for the cray fish premiere.
Anyway, we finally saw Star Trek Nemesis last night.
Why did Data have to die????? *growls* Am not happy at all. He was my second favourite character on the show (after Tasha Yar) and he was "the young one", you know the one who kept learning. He was the son to Picard's father and he was meant to live and take over after Picard.
I really thought Picard should die. I mean that would have made sense. But Data! It was kind of exciting, because all the PR said "Some will die. Some will live." and Malin and I were talking about who it was that would die. I really thought Picard. Riker was also in danger there for a while!
It was a good movie otherwise, lots of human interractions, especially in the cut scenes. I loved Riker and Troi marrying. The actions scenes were great too. The ending was touching. Malin said Data's brother seems a bit mentally challenged. Wesley had a very very small part. I didn't realise he had been in the movie until I saw Wil Wheaton's name in the credits!
I'm really pissed that they killed off Data. I thought the whole point was that he'd pick up the gauntlet from Picard when Picard died. Though I did think about that last night, Picard would want to die at the battlefield, somewhat young, but that's not his destiny. His destiny is to grow old, to outlive everything, and see the world change, people come and go etc. He may not like it which is why I think it suits him.
