kribbanTired and itchy.
I've just come back from a looong day. I g ot up at 0545 to go to a village in the south of Sweden for the annual extended family gettogether. I've missed it all the 5 years they've had it but this year I felt obliged to come, especially since it was also the 70th birthday for my lesbian aunt Rosa. From Stockholm there was three hour long trip one way. My parents picked me up and I stayed at the event for about five hours. I chatted with some relatives, and entertained the one who talks endlessly to all who will listen about his life (poor man!) and had lunch and pitched in my third of the birthday money for Rosa. The part I didn't stay for was the nightly BBQ. Mom tried to guilt trip me into staying the night earlier but I felt one half of my weekend spent on this was enough.
It was really weird - a trip to another world. Just by taking a train I got sent back to my childhood. The buildings, the scenery, the people. I haven't been at that site since 1998 and it felt weird to just be back on a quick visit. After another four hour journey I was back in my own familiar world.
