Second week of vacation draws to an end
Aug. 15th, 2004 09:35 pmOur trip to Visby was very succesful. We stayed three nights in our jail cell at the hostel, arriving at 4 pm and leaving three days later at seven. That makes pretty much four days.
We walked a LOT. We didn't bathe in the ocean and we didn't go to the herbal garden as we had planned but we managed to do everything else. We walked along the parts of the Great Wall we hadn't last time, and we visited most of the ruins we hadn't seen(there's 17 in total). We also saw the remains of Visborg castle, sat in the botanical garden, the Almedalen (a garden made famous for all major political leaders going to debate there one week per year) - one night with a cider each after coming back from a hefty dinner - and took a motored guided tour around the city.
Both boat rides we sat outside on deck the entire time.
We returned after one am on Thursday night which was brutal since the commute took such a long time (because it was so late at night.) Friday and Saturday we unpacked and veggied out and today we went and visited my oldest brother and his wife in Uppsala. We hardly ever see relatives and when I go I hardly ever bring Malin so it was nice. Now, if she doesn't come with me again at least she has been there and seen their new house and talked to Kalle, my nephew.
The trip there took two hours and we spent about four hours there. We had lunch and coffee outside. They showed us the house and pictures. They liked the special tea and bath salt we had bought them in Visby. I took two pictures of Kalle. Now, Malin and I are eating the food from yesterday and drinking wine. One week left. Party!
