Malin works late and she'll go to McDonald's with her friend after her shift so I won't see her tonight. Instead I have the whole night for my self to read fics, write e-mails and edit my own story.

Today I didn't go to the office. Instead the entire department (minus two) went to Stockholm, to something called "The Great Inspiration Day" that they hold every year for companies to treat their employees to. Basically, they invite various speakers to hold lectures and do comedy routines. I had originally opted to stay at the office and work, but after a colleague canceled, my boss insisted that I go. So this morning we took the train to Stockholm (got to sleep in a bit, as well.)

The event was held in a great auditorium where they have debates and vote. All the lectures were funny or inspiring, and on various subjects!

The hunk male movie star (Mikael Persbrandt) had canceled (to the dismay of many women!) but was replaced by very famous comedian and writer Jonas Gardell (who is openly gay and legally married to another famous Swede - they're Sweden's most famous gay couple) who was very funny and touching, and whom I've secretly admired for years. (And, yes, there were some gay jokes.)

One of our biggest female movie stars talked about her alcoholism (though my co-worker Anette said later she didn't believe a word she said about being completely reformed now) and stellar interviewer Stina Dabrowski, who had the last slot, talked about some of her interviews with famous people and showed some clips of her interviewing Kadaffi, Thatcher, and Hillary Clinton. It was very funny and entertaining.

There were also some other lecturers (a scholar, a psycho analyst & a
comedic actress) who talked about everything from finding balance in your
life to body language.

In the first intermission we were served chiabatta with serrano ham and in
the second: cookies and chocolate bars. We met two ladies from another
department at work who were amazed all of us were allowed to go at the same time. At their department they can only go two ever year. (These days have been held a couple of years now, and they mostly attract big names every year.)

It all ended at four pm, and on the way out everyone (there were five hundred people in the audience) got a box of chocolates and a bouquet of roses each. :-)

All in all, it was extremely nice. *smiles* And once the train had arrived in Södertälje, Anette drove me home.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that Swedish singer Daniel Lemma, who made the soundtrack for the movie Jalla, jalla! performed two songs at the event. Very nice.
