So, Jon did his last show before going on his movie shoot on Friday. [livejournal.com profile] silversolitaire said that if she hadn't known the context she would have thought he was retiring permanently considering how dramatic his send-off was.

I will definitely watch the show next week when John Oliver is on, although I think I'll wait with the interviews until a non-entertainment guest comes on. It'll be interesting to see how he handles interviewing people on sensitive issues without resorting to sarcasm.

It will also be interesting to see how much the writers change the script to fit his personality.

Speaking of the shows, Dan Savage will appear on Colbert next week. He apparently has a new book out about sex and love. Considering I go into near-panic attacks whenever I hear his opinion on either of those topics I will skip this episode.

I've heard that his It Gets Better campaign has stopped people from committing suicide. If that's true he's a hero who has saved lives and he needs to be honoured for that.

But to me he will always be the evo-psych asshole who tells me what kind of sex I'm required to have.

In other news: my aunt has had surgery for cancer and my uncle was so depressed he ended up damaging his kidney by overdosing on sleeping pills. He has been living with my parents for the past two weeks and they've been forced to "move back" to the city for the duration. Usually they spend May-September in the cabin. So they're not pleased about that, but what are you going to do.
