Have now been back for five days. I sort of miss being up there, though. I'm sad the last couple of days of being there were shadowed a bit by my own bad thoughts, but I'll look forward to going north again soon.

Something funny I didn't tell you - Robert and his wife (who is in almost pro-athlete shape) swam across the lake when we were there. Mom and I followed them in a rowing boat with rescue floating devices and life jackets. Robert only swam across, but his wife swam all the way back as well!

I took a lot of pictures (also at other times during the stay in the cabin) that I have promised to share with the whole family.

One sad thing is that dad found out exactly how his mother died. His brother had visited their old maid who is now 94 and she had recalled the whole story.

Grandma was having her fourth child at home at the farm. This was 1938. The mid-wife, who was young and inexperienced, wanted to bring her to the hospital in town, but grandma didn't want to leave her other children. The mid-wife pulled the afterbirth out, which she shouldn't have, and grandma to bled to death. The baby was given to relatives, and died two weeks later. My father was two years old at the time.
