As promised, here are the pictures from the renovation this summer. Unfortunately, the pictures of my brother and father taking down the slide door were lost, but the rest are here.

Since the living room wouldn't be renovated we moved the dining room table in there. Behind it you can see the fold out bed that I slept on during the ten day duration.

Let's start with the dining room. This is the original ceiling that was uncovered when Robert tore down the old ceiling in June. The old ceiling made up of white plywood had been put up in the 1970s and effectively lowered the height of the room by 30 cm. Apparently, this was the fashion in the 1970s.

The wooden box is the ventilation shaft to a cupboard that no longer exists. Inside we found an old wasp nest.

The doorway with its slide door still intact inside the double wall.

My father and brother tearing down part of the wall in order to remove the slide door and make the opening larger.

My other brother using his electric saw.

After the demolishing new plaster boards were put up. My brother Rickard made a little shelf in the right hand corner where a big hole used to be. If you look closely above the other door you will see wood just under the ceiling. These are the original doorways that we found when the ceiling was removed. The doorways were very wide and went up almost into the ceiling. Unfortunately, I have my refridgerator on the other side so we couldn't use them.

The left half of the new doorway.

The new doorway as seen from the living room.

The ceiling after painting. It looks much better white than green. Unfortunately, there are no pictures of painting the walls of the dining room. They are now white as well.

The hallway was dominated by a rickety, ugly wardrobe that took up more space than it gave.

This is my brother demolishing the wardrobe. The specks of light in these pictures are dust particles falling on the camera.

This picture gives you an idea on how much space the wardrobe took up.

Previous to the demolition we had removed the floors in the hallway, kitchen and dining room. In the picture you can see the radiator still sitting on a piece of the wardrobe. It took a couple of days until the plumber could come and remove it.
After the demolition the corner had to be patched up.

It took two days to remove all the layers of old wall paper. The one with the floral print is the original from 1937.

Then there was painting.

An electrician came and moved the fuse box to a better location. It had used to be inside a cupboard which we had removed.

The hallway as it looks now with the new IKEA wardrobe.

The new floor to be put into the hallway, kitchen and dining room.

Rickard putting in the floor.

We painted the living room wall that was closest to the kitchen white.
And that was it!
