Christmas 2007
Dec. 28th, 2007 12:08 pmChristmas was okay. I got a bit of a late start on Saturday, so I arrived at the gate only fifteen minutes before departure without having checked in. Luckily there was a missing woman who had checked in and they were waiting for her. (She arrived five minutes after me.)
My parents had set out a spare bed in the dog's room which worked out nicely. On Saturday I did nothing special.
On Sunday I followed dad to the grocery store and later I went out to find my last Christmas gifts. There were lots of people out, but after two hours and two malls I had everything I needed.
In the evening I went out with my friend Helen. The pub we had planned to go to was closed and we wandered around the city looking for an open restaurant. After nearly an hour we finally found one that was open.
Very strange!
I had beef, potato gratin and some wine. It was quite nice. After that we went back to my place and had tea in my room. Rickard and his family had arrived while we were gone.
Helen went home around eleven and I slept nice and long.
Christmas Eve went as usual. Church (during which the kids left), Glögg & Rice pudding, traditional Disney show and Christmas dinner. Someone had the idea of letting the kids (age 2 and 4) hand out the presents, which was okay, except they got way too excited and did it at a too fast pace.
I got an iPod shuffle, a coffee maker, (both of those I had wished for), a cat calender, leather gloves, a stone necklace and the last figurine in a series of four.
I don't know if I've written about this, but last week I also got a digital camera as a birthday present from my brothers.
So I am really quite pleased.
On Christmas Day I went to the movies and saw the Golden Compass. I'm currently reading The Amber Spyglass which is the third and final book in the series. I liked the film, although it feels much less of a complete film than say, Fellowship of the Ring. The film ends earlier than the book (which ends very dramatically) and that helps in making the film feel like "half a first chapter."
When I came home I played Trivial Pursuit with Rickard and mom. I had given her a new game for Christmas since her old one is from 1990 and many of the questions are outdated.
On Boxing Day after ribs and Rice a la Malta (rice pudding, whipped cream, cloudberry jam) dad and I went to aunt and uncle. In the evening dad showed slides from his service in Cyprus in 1967.
Yesterday I got up at five thirty and flew south again. Those five days went by really fast.
