It's THAT time of the year again...
Feb. 17th, 2008 04:46 pmLast week, Sweden started their try outs for the Eurovision Song Contest. In case you don't know we're one of those countries who take the ESC very seriously. (And I'm a bit of a ESC fanatic :-)
First there are four contests with ten songs in each. From each contest two songs are sent to the grand finale and two are sent to the "last chance" round-up where the ten songs compete about the final two slots. This takes place over five Saturdays in a row. After this we have ten entries who compete in the grand finale. The winning entry of that becomes the ESC entry for Sweden.
Out of these forty songs, about fifteen become huge hits, being played on the radio for the remainder of the year. There is of course also a lot of media attention on the competition and all the six shows usually have very high viewing numbers.
All I can do is hope that we get a decent entry this year to send to Serbia. The Ark didn't do so well last year so we have to qualify via the semi finals. But to be honest, I care more about the success of good songs than the success of my own country.
And it's freezing here. Due to repairs the heat and hot water has been shut off from seven am to nine pm today. Brrr.
