Dad's 80th birthday

kribbanYesterday was a long day. I commuted to my brother’s new house where we held an 80th birthday dinner for our dad. Both my brothers, their wives and their children were there. I’m the only one who doesn’t have a partner or children, which makes me feel like a teenager even though I’m almost 37.
Our gift to dad was his autobiography turned into a book - complete with pictures. He spent almost a year writing that book, and he was very touched to see the final result. He made a short speech where he said he is the only one from his family to live to see 80 and how grateful he is for living this long.
Life is a gift. Longevity is a gift.
Today mom and dad are coming here for a three-night stay, which means it’s podfic & cleaning time!!
Dad’s actual birthday is on Tuesday and I hope I’ll get to take them out to dinner. I really love when my parents visit because I get to show my town to them. I’m very grateful that I’ve had several such visits over the years.
