Man it smells like 2009 in here
Jan. 27th, 2019 09:12 pmBruce Greenwood's Captain Pike was so universally loved in the Star Trek-fandom and for good reason too. He was kind, a strong but fair leader, a father figure who inspired others to be their best and didn't crush his subordinates with his ego.
Two episodes in on the second season of Discovery I feel exactly the same way about Anson Mount's Captain Pike (who I suspect took a fair bit from the 2009 movie). He's basically a positive masculinity posterboy, and boy do I like it!
And maaaaybe with the arrival of a positive white male role model the naysayers can maybe calm down a bit?
Look, you guys are represented too! White men have a role in the future.
Also, he's sexy as fuck and he wears the costume well. :D
