Dinner and a movie
May. 30th, 2003 12:23 pmWe finally managed to go out last night and celebrate our anniversury. Our original plans were fucked up by it being Ascension day and the buses not going at their usual hours. The plan was to see X2 first and eat at Alanya later. So we couldn't do that. Then the cinema's website kept changing its information (!) so we didn't know which salon it would be showing in. Malin refuses to see a film in the smallest salon, or The Big TV as she calls it, but when we came there it turned out it was shown in the second biggest salon afterall, so that was OK. Our back-up plan was to see Reloaded which was showing in the biggest salon but we hoped we wouldn't have to do that since neither of us were up for it. We bought the tickets and then went to the restaurant.
I had spent Wednesday night working on our website projekt via the school's FTP server and I was almost finished, finally!
In case I haven't told you guys about our Big Website Project at school, my task is to create the ADMIN pages where the site owners can log on and update the webpage's database via forms, using HTML and Active Server Pages.
There's still a bug on two pages but I've sent them to a teacher and he promised he'd look at them. I had spent yesterday (Thursday) doing all the cleaning and mentally designing and solving my final paper for school (now I only have to draw it on paper), and then showering and dressing up.
I got to break in my news shoes (my first pair of high heels in five years), yay! and wear pantyhose and a skirt so I felt very pretty. ;-) All in all I felt very, very accomplished which made me able to really have a good time.
You know what it's like when you've worked really hard and done everything you had to do and you feel you really deserve to have a good time afterwards?
That's how I felt.
Anyway, we went to the restaurant with two hours to kill before the film and Malin wanted to sit outside so we did. She had been really depressed about our plan being fucked up so she had been bitching a lot. That's why I didn't feel guilty about complaining loudly about all the things that were wrong with sitting outside. ;-) After about five minutes we were both in a good mood.
It was definitely a good move to sit outside although I was terrified that my aunt and uncle would drive by, see me smoke one cigarette and call my parents. We were the only ones outside and it was very quiet and serene. It was not too cold so I could sit without my jacket. It was wonderful.
We had their special which was grilled beef with fried potatoes, bearnaise and red wine sauce and a glass of wine for 10 Euros. We got bread and salad before and the glass of wine was huge so it was well worth the money. Malin only had a soda but I wanted white wine. The food was very good, as was the bread with tapenad which I had never eaten before. Yum.
We ate slowly, enjoying the food and the air and each other. The wine was also very good and here comes the odd part: I got absolutely pissed. On one glass. Before the glass had been emptied. LOL!
Anyway, I enjoyed being drunk and when I had to get to the bathroom I walked very, very slowly... I ate slowly and drank mineral water that I had bought earlier so I managed not to get nauseous. We ate for almost an hour and a half.
Then we went in search of a place where ice cream would be served after the film was over which would be 23.45. We found that the videostore would be open then but Malin said she didn't want to rush after the film. Malin bought a tiramisu magnum but I couldn't eat icecream at that point so I decided to skip it and buy chocholate at the cinema to eat for dessert instead.
We went to the cinema, I bought what I should and I went to the bathroom while Malin went inside. When I came into the salon I saw the most wonderful thing: we were all alone. We were a bit scared that someone would come in but no one ever did and we got the whole salon to ourselves. Malin's mood definitely improved then! ;-) And mine as well. So we were alone in the theatre and it was a decently big enough theatre with a big enough screen and good sound. The seats were very big and comfortable as well and Malin had enough leg space to be able to sit on row four. We could comment the whole film and hold hands so it was wonderful. We felt like we had our own theatre!
The film was nice even a second time and afterwards we went out through the back door which turned out to lead us through winding corridors and stairs out into the city. We went to the busstop, smoked and talked and waited for the bus home. When we came back, we made tea and coffee and chatted with Jimmy and SBB and saw a documentury about Sci-Fi narrated by Mark Hamill. I ate my chocholate. A perfect end to a hard week.
