We Are Bad Parents

Last night when we went to bed at around two Malin asked where Douglas was. We just figured he was around somewhere and we were too tired to go looking for him. Then this morning at around 9.30 Malin asks again where Douglas was. She calls for him but no answer. She then opens the balcony door and sure enough he's sitting there, having been locked out on the balcony the entire night! We let him in and he immediately started purring and soon ran to his litter box. He had held it in for eight hours because he didn't want to pee on our balcony.
